In the afternoon of my youth, surrounded
by rivers of eternity, I saw myself.
Looming in a humble dwelling, she
peered through the veil of illusion
to smile.
A smile so familiar, yet long
forgotten, I remembered her.
And in my dream,
one few awakened from, I slept
a joyous taste of life’s slumber,
yet knew that this was not
where I am to reside.
It is a foreboding nature, this
juxtaposition of musings and life
entangled and mangled and free to unfold.
I know, she said.
And smiled again
to remind me it was time
to awaken.
