When I grow up…

What will I be when I grow up?  Sound familiar?  I’d venture to say that more than a few of us have asked ourselves this question.  I’d like to propose that at our deepest and truest level, we are already “grown up”, and therefore are who we already are.

Oh, the Places You’ll Go! by Dr. Seuss (one of my favorite books) speaks of the Waiting Place, where people are just waiting for something to happen.  If you find yourself waiting for the phone to ring, or the fish to bite, or a better break, chances are you find yourself in the space where life seems to be at a standstill.

The good news is that it has nothing to do with who you are.  It has everything to do with your perspective.  Seuss explains – “NO! that’s not for you! Somehow you’ll escape all that waiting and staying.  You’ll find the bright places where Boom Bands are playing!” ..Ready for anything under the sky. Ready because you’re that kind of guy!” (and gal, or course).  So, next time you find yourself wondering what your life will be like when you “grow up”, maybe you can simply decide to be who you are, and move towards the people and things that bring you joy.  That will be your clue that you’re on the right track – to you – the best “place” you can go!

Be You Today

from Wisdom To Consider

The sky thinks not.

The rivers think not.

The mountains think not.

So then, who do you?

Why do you ponder on who you are,

 what you are to do,

 who you are to be?

Just be.  Just be.  Just be.
